The instruction of Y-strainer （usage & function）

1. Suitable medium: water, oil, gas.  Stainless steel screen is strong and durable. Pls just taking screen out from the removable body when you clear the impurities up, very convenient to maintain.

2. Y-strainer is an essential device in medium conveying pipe system. It is usually  installed on the import side of the reducing valve, pressure relief valve, water valve and other devices for removing impurities from the medium to ensure the valves and devices normal work. With characteristic of advanced structure, small resistance, easy drainage etc.

3. Y-strainer with small body, small screen mesh, low resistance, high efficiency, convenience to install and maintain, low cost, short drainage time about 5-10 minutes for small size strainers.

4. Water screen mesh is 18-30 mesh/cm2, gas screen 40-100 mesh/cm2, oil screen 100-300 mesh/cm2.

Method of Y-strainer installation

1. Pls clean the pipe threaded connection surface before installation, adding moderate sealant or PTFE except for screw thread end avoiding sealing material into pipe system.

2. Horizontal installation or vertical installation is all right. Pay attention to not using non-metal material gasket when you install 1-1/4”(DN32) or more larger size socket weld strainer or Y-strainer avoiding damage due to overheating. So short welding time as soon as possible and adopt cooling treatment process after welding. Advise taking down the gasket in advance if you need to preheat  before installation or continue to heat after welding for D series strainers.

Following Y-strainer maintenance specification as below four requirements.

1. Screen is core parts of Y-strainer which is made of frame and stainless steel mesh. You need to protect it specially due to easy damage.

2. Clean screen to remove impurities in time after working a period of time. Because impurities on the mesh will increase the pressure and reduce flow rate of medium.

3. Avoiding screen deformation or damage when you clean it. Or it can’t get to the medium purity requirement leading to compressor, pump, instrument and other devices damage.

Replace the deformation or damaged screen once found.
